This installation, which opened on October 3rd, features work produced on a one year AA2A printmaking residency at UCLan, from Oxheys resident artist and photographer Denise Swanson.
Exploring the relevance of leaves in various cultures around the world, a series of prints on Japanese washi paper are hung from bamboo poles, suspended from the ceiling. This minimalist approach and accompanying soundscape, create a very calm and Zen-like environment which invites quiet contemplation. Visitors have typically stayed a while and appreciated the peace and calm offered. For those interested in how they were made, alongside the prints are shown the actual leaves on boards, from which the prints were made, along with a selection of the tools used to create them.
The printss were created using water-based inks and a hybrid method of printmaking devised by the artist during the residency.
Project space opening times are now 12-3pm, Fridays and Saturdays only, until further notice.
