One of the aims when we founded Oxheys was to provide as varied, diverse and vibrant programme of events as possible and to be inclusive. Our track record of events run over the past five years has, we believe, proven our commitment and encouraged a loyal following from an ever-increasing number of supporters, exhibitors, participants and visitors.
In addition to the wide variety of visual art exhibitions including painting, drawing, photography, textiles, ceramics and sculpture, we have also hosted a number of live music, theatre, film, sound, poetry reading and performance events. We have organised, curated and hosted a number of open exhibitions to provide opportunities for local artists to exhibit and sell their work. In addition, we have run a variety of workshops, classes and outreach events to reach the wider communities of Preston. These have included life drawing, photography, textiles and craft making.
We enjoy collaborations and regularly work with visual artists working in a variety of media as well as with musicians, poets and performers, artist groups, arts organisations, community groups and various other organisations. These include Preston Youth Theatre, Bluestreak Arts, Korova, Fallen Wall Arts, ArtFull, Making Histories Visible, ArtLab Contemporary Print, Preston Poets, Preston Arts Society, Lancashire Artists Network, Age Concern and the Brownies.
We also try to support students and have to date hosted several exhibitions for photography and media students from UCLan and Myerscough College, provided a residency for UCLAn film-making students and regularly assist journalism students.
