Join us on International Women’s Day as we take part in a Visual Arts Trail being held in the centre of Preston, organised and curated by Professor Lubaina Himid MBE from the University of Central Lancashire.
The day will start at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN):
10.30-11.30 UCLAN Adelphi Building Top Floor – see the exhibition by artists Rebecca Chesney and Patricia Walsh
11.30-1.00 Centre for Contemporary Art, 37 St Peter St – have a glimpse into the archives of Black Womens Art
1.00-2.30 Oxheys Mill Studios, Stanhope St – open studio event – see the exhibition and meet the female artists in their studios at Oxheys
3.00-4.00 Harris Museum & Art Gallery – see the Field of Vision exhibition by Tracey Hill & Martha Oatway
6.00-8.00 Oxheys Mill Studios, Stanhope St – evening launch for Time, Place & Negotiated Space exhibition
7.00pm Market Square – Global Rainbow by Yvette Mattern
The Time, Place & Negotiated Space exhibition at Oxheys is curated by Lubaina Himid and will feature work from the resident female artists Julie Saul, Denise Swanson, Lisa Gorton, Lauretta Rapley, Evelyn Rose, Hannah Allan and Norma Foulds, who will open their studios during the day. Visitors are welcome to look around and talk with the artists as well as view the work on display.
The evening launch event will be held at Oxheys from 6pm to meet all of the artists, enjoy the work and network. Everyone welcome. Refreshments provided.
The exhibition at Oxheys will run until April 20th and will be open Fridays and Saturdays 11am-4pm. See other venues for details of their opening times.
