We are really excited about this show, a collaboration with Making Histories Visible. Feast Wagons was previously shown at The Tetley in Leeds in 2014 and is now coming to Oxheys in Preston! This intriguing installation, by renowned artists Lubaina Himid and Susan Walsh will provide something for everyone to engage with. Featuring a number of found objects, re-purposed carts and other vehicles, along with collages and other works, there will be plenty to see.
Lubaina is well known in Preston, an international artist and Professor of Contemporary Art at UCLan, she also runs the making Histories Visible research project.
Susan is well known for her topical and tough-provoking projects. We’re thrilled that the old cart from Susan’s Satellite Navigation project, which was shown at Oxheys in 2012 having been pulled through the streets of Preston, will also be making a return visit and taking up its place in our Loading Bay. Having since been pulled through the streets of Durham as part of a larger project, it is lovely to see the old cart back again – it feels like it has come home!
Currently being installed, the show opens Friday 21st October with a Private View from 5-7pm (note the earlier time than usual). It will then run until November 19th, open Fridays and Saturdays from 12-3pm
And for those interested in our next exhibition, a call for submissions for the Winter Open will follow soon. Watch this space.
